PROMISE
Update: We had to make the very difficult decision to release Promise from her painful arthritis in October of 2025. We are so grateful for her life and all that she taught us. Rest in peace, sweet girl...you've earned it.
Originally named "Shania," Promise was our very first horse, which we re-named as a testimony to our God, who is a Promise-keeper! Purchased from a boarding facility through Alaska Equine Rescue, she was already 23 years old (April of 2022). We were told that her story involved most recently being owned by a young teenage girl who simply stopped showing up to care for her or to pay her boarding fees. What an amazing connection with many children in the foster care system!
Though she struggles with arthritis, and can be the stereotypical temperamental, bossy mare, she is sweet and usually easy to work with. She has taught us so much about horsemanship!

ZEBEDEE (retired to his original owner in Palmer)
Originally named Saffir, this Icelandic gelding was given to us by Veronica Bunch. We wanted to find a name fitting for an old man (he's 30 years old) that also reflected meaning for his life here! We were so grateful to have been given this companion for Promise, and lo and behold, "Zebedee" means "Gift of God!" So appropriate! He is the sweetest pony, always eager to please and hopeful for a treat. He learns quickly, and has been trained already by Anna to hug and to play catch with the giant ball! His smaller size will be less intimidating for younger children!
Update: Zebedee was retired, with much sadness on our part, back to his original owner in August of 2024. He had been partially blind in one eye, and we think it must have been worsening over time. He would refuse to stand still while being groomed, constantly shifting and swinging his hind end around. We understood that it was just because he was trying to see his surroundings, but it was an unsafe situation for our clients. He is living the good life now, roaming 40 acres with his herd!
JASPER
Jasper, originally named Rocky, came to us on a trial basis from Dr. Marlowe in Anchor Point. Once we had Zebedee's retirement planned, we knew we would need a new herd mate for Promise. He is a good ole' boy...born presumably in the year 2000, just like Promise! In the Bible, Jasper is a precious stone that is used to symbolize being one of God's precious, chosen people and the treasure of the glory of God. We want each and every participant at Faith Place Farm to know that they are precious and chosen by God! He is a crowd favorite-he is super sweet and patient with everyone who works with him!

Jedediah (previously named Raven) is as sweet and in your pocket as they come! We named him Jedediah because it means "Loved of God," and we want each client to also know that they are loved of God, too!
